Substitutions 01

This weekend I started a new cyclus of my works under the title Substitutions. One part of my drawing I substitute with an appropriate photo or one part of a photo I substitute with a drawing. I was inspired by Brassaï's Transmutations (In 1934-35 he made over 150 'scratchings' from about thirty negatives of nudes ).

Hommage à Juan Genovés

I took this photograph in the 8th district of Budapest. Running people-shadows immediately reminded me on the famous Spanish contemporary artist Juan Genovés. In 1976 when I first saw his works I was stroked by the strength of his running silhouettes which obviously symbolised the political oppression across the world, particularly in Latin America in that time. Genovés’ canvases I’ve always seen as concise, one frame films by Costa Gavras.

Anatomy of Fear

I have used this drawing in my DAT book under the title “Frightened Mimi” for Béla Bartok's "The Miraculous Mandarin", but original drawing was purely a presentation of fear and title was “Anatomy of Fear”.

DAT Postage Stamps

I have used my DAT pictures for creating DAT Postage Stamps Collection (here you can see the first three stamps).

blade runner

My drawing from 1992 was a basis for making the final vision of "Blade Runner" for my DAT book.

Oh, Le Corbusier!

I like this photograph of a building in Baross street, Budapest. It could be also taken in a suburb of Paris, Bucharest or Sao Paolo. No curves, no decorations, just spartan, geometric forms of concrete, iron and glass. Even the tablecloth is of the same style.

Batterfly

Thanking to Etele, I can now type on keyboard my hand made letters. This new font I call DAT font. I've tried to use it connecting my drawing A Butterfly Girl with a Wikipedia text about butterflies.

DAT Bridge Playing Cards (Kings)

I've made DAT Bridge Playing Cards (52 + 52 + 4 Jokers).

A Little Lake

Kosd, June 1. We spent a beatiful day in Kosd, a village near Budapest, in Hermina's and János' garden.
